In the Late Jurassic, when Central Europe was a subtropical archipelago, voracious predatory dinosaurs, small, nimble mammals, and the dwarfed giant dinosaur Europasaurus roamed the landscape in what is now Northern Germany. After years of research on well-preserved fossil finds, this long-forgotten kingdom of animals and plants is being revived as part of a story of a young dinosaur. The series of scientifically correct, large-format images is complemented by easily accessible background information at the end of the graphic novel.

154 million years… An unimaginable length of time. How different our world may have looked so long ago, without grass or flowering plants! How strange an animal world ruled by dinosaurs would be! On our constantly changing planet, most references to past habitats and their inhabitants were erased in the flow of time. Only meticulous research into fossils enables us to resurrect this prehistoric world bit by bit. An important element in this never-ending puzzle is the Langenberg Quarry in northern Germany, which yielded some of the most spectacular paleontological finds of the past decades. The success story of Langenberg research is marked by the discoveries of the small “giant” dinosaur Europasaurus, the first Jurassic mammals from Germany, and several other new species. In this graphic novel, we want to share the former ecosystem with a broad audience. We want to bring this, in the truest sense of the word, petrified world to new life. We hope that our story provides exciting insights into extinct wildlife and hope you enjoy reading it!
