Pictures

Conventional photos and drawings are still welcome and should be submitted as originals.
Digital images should only be submitted if you have sufficient experience in handling image processing and graphics programs.
Note the following:

1. Photos

Digital cameras: Send the unchanged original file, i.e. as stored by the digital camera. This also applies for multi-image figures, in this case send the unchanged oringinal files of all used images together with an example of the intended arrangement.

Slides and prints: high-resolution scanning * in RGB, without any corrections (no filters) and saving as TIF (NOT JPG!).
* Slides at least 3000 pixels wide, resolution for prints at least 600 dpi.

General information: Please do not prune pictures. The desired section can be specified with a copy of the file.
If supplements (scales, labels, etc.) are necessary, use a vector graphics program (see 3.).
If this is not the case, you should create these additions at least in their own (editable) levels.
If the images are to be combined into panels, you still have to add the unchanged frames (in addition).

2. Drawings

Scanning with at least 1200 dpi as a bitmap (= line drawing mode, 1 pixel = 1 bit [do not confuse with file format »* .bmp«!]). Save as TIF (NEVER JPG!).
If supplements (scales, labels, etc.) are necessary, use a vector graphics program (see 3.).

3. Vector graphics

Submit the original vector graphics file, in the format corresponding to your vector graphics program; Best Illustrator, but also CorelDraw or Freehand.
Never export these graphics as TIF or JPG.
The vector graphics can also be submitted in PDF. In this case, however, no re-calculation of the images and no JPG may be used (LZW and ZIP compression are permitted).
Also submit all linked images and drawings as separate files.
